copper granules in a scup

In jewellery, when you alloy a metal such as pure silver, it is when you mix two or more metals together. The alloy is created for a number of reasons, to strengthen the metal and add high density. Some jewellers use copper or brass to alloy the metal. The most common alloy we use in our jewellery studio at DUT is copper and brass, when alloying silver to make it a 925 sterling silver. Sterling silver is the standard of quality for articles containing 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper (and/or other alloys).
