Gold is the most popular metal used in making jewellery. It is durable and doesn’t tarnish despite of everyday use. For many Hindus, gold is considered precious. Hindus believe that gold has the power to purify anything it touches. It is also considered as a sign of power and wealth. Aside from that, it also symbolizes good health, prosperity, and femininity. An Indian sweet maker made sure his daughter truly was the golden girl on her wedding day by covering her in gold jewellery worth more than R9 039 869,33 when converted to South African currency. According to Bruce Metcalf "women all over the world wear a substantial portion of their wealth in jewellery, which can be converted into goods and services should the need arise". In my point of view I think that serves as a redeem aspect because gold is one of the most respected or highly valued metal that is ever used in the world and it holds a much better value even if it has been used.

When you pawn a necklace at a pawn shop, you get cash in exchange for it with the understanding that you can buy it back later. The benefit when you pawn something is getting cash immediately. The downside is that you will have to pay more money the amount you borrowed, plus interest to get your item back. For example if I were to pawn a solitaire ring 9ct yellow gold and the value I am selling it for is R2350 by the time I want to buy it back it will cost more than the price I charged for when selling it.

Redeemable investment
Redeemable
According to (Balcilar et al., 2015)Oil and precious metals such as gold, silver, and platinum have received considerable attention given the rapid financialization of commodities. I came across this BP logo and thought about how redeemable oil is, same applies to the previous metals such as gold. Also the pattern of the BP logo gave me a perfect glimpse of how it resembles the stitching that I am attempting to apply on my jewellery pieces, which will be made out of Gold, silver, platinum.

Beaded hat
Kuba people beaded hat, it is amazing to see how beads have been around the jewellery industry yet I did not pay attention enough to realise that the stitching is being used. That gave me a deeper thought how I want to stitch my jewellery pieces. Although beads have no much value I think they are portable in a way that you buy them then you can resell beads when you make a jewellery piece made out of beads

For this term I managed to make a ring that has a stitch. I got the inspiration from(Isicholo) hat. Isicholo or married women hat was worn as a sign of respect to one's husband and his family in Zulu culture.
